Ho! Ho! Ho! December 6 is “St.
Nicholas Day”, and what better day to announce my own little “Tom
Branson-inspired HOLIDAY GIVEAWAY”!

If you recall, back in October when
I had my Lady Sybil-inspired Fall Giveaway”, I mentioned that during the holiday
season, there would be one featuring everyone’s favorite Irish chauffeur…and
here it is!

And it includes:

  • an Irish lambswool scarf (made in Ireland)
  • a tin of The Republic of Tea limited-edition Downton Abbey tea (”Holiday Cheer Tea”)
  • a festive, blue-green snowflake mug
  • a “Mountain Lodge” tumbler candle (aka “the boyfriend candle”)
  • a Downton Abbey “miniature Renault & chauffeur” Christmas tree ornament

To participate, you must FOLLOW my blog, and REBLOG this post (likes are nice, but don’t count for the giveaway).  ALSO,
as this is a “Tom Branson” inspired giveaway, please give a positive
statement about the character of Tom Branson in your reblog.
And only one reblog is necessary.

The giveaway runs until 12:01am CST, Tuesday, Dec. 12.  Winner will be selected at random, and announced by 4:00pm CST that same day!

Today’s the the last day to participate! The giveaway closes at 12:01am, Tuesday, Dec. 12! So if you want some Tom Branson for Christmas (and who doesn’t?) share the love! ;o)

reblog if you’d end a date if they said they voted for trump

all these men acting butt-hurt that a woman would choose to end their date or relationship after learning they voted for Trump. Please, these very same guys would ridicule a woman upon learning she voted for Hillary–the difference being is that it’s “ok” for them to dump/walk-away from her than for women to do that for them.

When they leave a woman for voting for Hillary, it’s because she’s a “feminazi”

When a woman leaves them for voting for Trump, it’s because she’s “a heartless bitch”

This blog did not and will not send requests for bitcoin donations.

There seems to be a virus or some sort of malware going around causing blogs to “send out” chat messages to blogs that they follow asking for help with the purchase of certain items through donations of seemingly small amounts using bitcoin and adds a link to the message.

The message goes as following (at least the first message I got went like this): “Hi there buddy. I need help, I’m trying to buy a laptop and I can’t afford it. I’m about 0.36$ short, and I’d really appreciate if you could help me and transfer some money to me via bitcoin using this *link*.”

The small details in the message seems to have a few variations with the greeting, amount and purchased item showing up in different variations from formal to friendly, from 0.016 to 2$ and from a phone case to a laptop among others.

The blogs that are affected send out the messages to blogs that they follow for a long time mostly, so you are most likely to receive the message from a long time, active follower whose name you might recognize or a mutual etc. The blogs that are affected are not spam bots but actual active followers who follow the recipient for months or years and most likely the blogger who “sent” the message is unaware of the message being sent.

DO NOT OPEN THE LINK.

Opening up the link will cause the virus to spread even more and infect your computer/mobile with any sort of malware.

If you have received a message of that sort from this blog please know that it was not sent by me or within my control and ignore/delete the message without clicking the link.

I just got this thing on another blog FIVE MINUTES AGO,

I’ve had 100 of these this morning. I’m afraid I’ll be closing my IMs to mutuals for a while because I already can’t handle the amount of mail I get without this. Please check your IMs, change your passwords, turn on two-factor-authentication (I know it seems like a pain in the ass but if it’s an option, always do it) and run your antivirus and anti malware.

Malwarebytes is a good, free (with paid upgrade available) anitmalware software for Windows, and is now available for Mac and Android as well, just in case you need a recommendation. The version on my phone has been screaming at me all morning every time I try to open tumblr. Something ain’t right fam, protect yourselves and your friends.

There must be some kind of a new Tumblr virus going on, I’ve gotten two chat messages from long-time followers this morning asking for help and linking to a Bitcoin wallet. (Two different versions of basically: “Hey what’s up? I need help with X. I need X amount of money but am short by X amount. This is my Bitcoin wallet number: cniowebebf”.)

I can’t say how someone gets affected by it (probably clicking on a link), but check your chat history to see if you’ve sent messages like that, change your password, do a scan, and always avoid clicking dodgy links!

I got tons of these messages this morning so I’m just warning you friends! Idk what this is and I hope you’re not getting any messages from me?? Please don’t click on anything and don’t believe these if you get them!!

I just got this too. Watch out friends!

I got one of these too, from some username I didn’t recognize and immediately marked it as spam.

Progressive Romance Elements You’d Like to See More.

romancingthebookworm:

Hey everyone!

Who wants to help me with a project?

I’m looking for your favorite progressive romance Elements – by “progressive” in this sense I mean elements of a novel that are really positive that we’ve seen gain ground in the last few years. Things like:

  • female friendships (as opposed to female rivalries)
  • virgin heroes
  • younger men/older women
  • heroines (particularly in contemporaries) who definitively don’t want children and don’t experience a magical change of heart by pg 240.
  • Authors making almost explicit reference to current social issues.

What have you seen in a romance (or multiple romances) lately that made you want to high-five the whole genre?

December 7th 1941: Attack on Pearl Harbor

On this day in 1941, just before 8 am, the Imperial Japanese Navy launched an attack on the
American naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After decades of escalating tensions, primarily over Japanese aggression against China, and Japanese anger over American trade sanctions, the Japanese strike on America’s Pacific Fleet still came as a surprise. In a two hour assault, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes dropped bombs and torpedoes which killed around 2,400 American soldiers and sailors, while 20 naval vessels and 200 planes were destroyed. In contrast, the Japanese suffered just 64 fatalities. The Pearl Harbor attacks were part of a larger, co-ordinated assault against American territories in Guam and the Philippines, and parts of the British Empire. While the strike certainly damaged the Pacific Fleet, vitally important aircraft carriers were spared as they were away from the base, and shipyards remained intact, allowing for swift rebuilding. The next day, following a powerful speech, President Franklin D. Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war on Japan. The legislature passed the war measure with only one dissenting vote, cast by pacifist Representative Jeannette Rankin of Montana. America’s declaration of war was immediately followed by further declarations by Japan’s Axis allies Germany and Italy against the United States. Two years in, despite initial isolationist neutrality, America was now involved in the Second World War. The entrance of the United States into the war marked a pivotal turning point in one of the bloodiest wars in human history, as the full might of the American military joined the Allied cause against the forces of Nazi Germany, fascist Italy, and imperial Japan.

“Yesterday, December 7th, 1941 – a date which will live in infamy – the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.”
– President Franklin D. Roosevelt to Congress
