I’ve been an unaffiliated vote since I was 18. However, I’ve been thinking about changing my affiliation to Democrat for a while. Today, I decided I will align myself with the democrats and filled out my change of affiliation form. It goes into the mail tomorrow.

welcome to the donkey club! :oP

Deck the Halls with Tom and Sybil this December…and rock the Victorian AU!

It’s the last “rock the AU” of 2017, and we’re imagining what it may have been like had the Bransons lived a few decades earlier, during the Victorian era!  Whether it’s through stories, drabbles, fanart, or picsets, have fun with this unique setting and reimagine all sorts of scenarios for Tom and Sybil and their brood. How would they handle lighting a Christmas tree with taper candles?  Perhaps explore those early Victorian years when Christmas trees began to grow in popularity?  Or take one of Mr. Dickens’ famous stories, and put a “Sybil/Tom/Downton Abbey” twist on it!  Let your creativity fly alongside Father Christmas this holiday season, and ROCK THE VICTORIAN AU!

It’s Christmas romance time! A few new ones join lots of oldies here, with four or five other holiday reads among them.

[Lord Trevor Chase] and his solicitor went downstairs together and stood at the Chancery Lane entrance to the Inn. He looked up at the evening sky – surprisingly clear for London in winter – and observed the stars. “A rare sight, Dawkins,” he said to his employee.

As they both looked upward, a little shard of light seemed to separate itself from a larger brightness, rather like shavings from some celestial woodcarver. Enchanted, he watched as it dropped quickly, blazed briefly, then puffed out.

Dawkins chuckled. ‘We should each make a wish, Trevor,’ he said, amusement high in his voice. “Me, I wish I could be more than five minutes on our way and not have one of my children ask, ‘How much farther, Papa?’” He turned to Trevor. “What do you wish?”

“I do not hold with wishing on stars,” he replied.

“Not even Christmas stars?”

“Especially not those.”

But he did. Long after his solicitor had bade him good night and happy Christmas, and was whistling his way down the lane, Trevor stood there, hesitating like a fool, and unable to stop from staring into the heavens. He closed his eyes.

“I wish”  –

“Let Nothing You Dismay” by Carla Kelly is one of my favourites, about how in the darkest hour of the soul love and forgiveness have the power to re-ignite hope. It’s in one of Signet’s once annual Regency Christmas anthologies, Regency Christmas Wishes (2003).

13 million

They may vote on the terrible tax bill today. Please, if you haven’t already, call your Senators and especially get friends and family in Arizona, Maine, Tennessee, West Virginia, Alaska and Montana to do so.

13 million people would lose health care. Grad school would be unaffordable. Corporation and the ultra-rich get richer– everyone else suffers.

Cute animal for more eyes…

If you can spare even 30 seconds, please call Senators Collins,
Flake, Johnson, and Corker to try and stop the devastation of the tax
bill passing.

Collins 202-224-2523
Flake 202-224-4521
Johnson 202-224-5323
Corker 202-224-3344

I was able to leave messages on everyone but Corker, whose line was busy. I sent him an email. Please cut and paste to share.

You can also call Daines and Moran, but Flake, Corker and Collins are the most important. They didn’t have the votes last night. Let’s make sure they don’t have them today. Call. Odds are, you will leave a VM.

Reblogging to add: I’m not entirely sure how effective it is to call senators from states you don’t live in (I’ve heard contradictory information on that, they might not record it if you’re not from their state). You may choose to call them, but also make sure you call YOUR senators too–if they support the awful bill tell them why they shouldn’t and if they’re fighting against it, thank them and tell them to keep up the fight!

NaNoWriMo 2017, Day 30

November 30, 2017

So despite my best efforts, I’m not going to get this update finished tonight (although I’m getting close!) I managed to write nearly 2200 words today (phew!) and I’m currently on page 16 of this update, however…at the same time, I’m a long way from finishing it.

So that simply means the update will have to wait another day. Hopefully tomorrow, definitely sometime this weekend. And then I can focus on my SECRET SANTA FIC! :oD

But until then, the grand total of words I typed for fanfic updates (both posted and to-be-posted) this month is: 15,481

So I was only…9,519 words off from my revised goal of 25,000. Ah well! After months of not writing anything, this was a victory.

Anyway, thank you to everyone for supporting and putting up with my NaNo updates. And keep on writing, no matter what month it is, or how many words you dish out!
