Iconic film. All star cast. Beautiful costumes. Masterpiece.
This movie was such an inspiration for me as a child seeing a black princess and such a diverse cast.
There were not many diverse films growing up in the US.
This movie meant so much to me!
I hope you guys REALLY understood what you did for POC kids.
My first Cinderella was black!

The darkest recesses of the web can be found in the comments section, under Youtube videos about self-defense tools for women
about a third of the comments are by men complaining that these tools are being marketed towards women and therefore “sexist” (seriously, one manchild was crying that it’s unfair his brass knuckles are illegal)
another third are by blowhards saying “this is only going to piss rapists/attackers off more” (and then either proceed to promote guns or not provide any solution because in their eyes a woman should probably just allow her attacker to have his way rather than “piss him off further”)
and the final third are dickwads making fun of feminists (hahahaha! Women wanting to defend themselves; it’s SO FUNNY!)
This is the reason why we need birth control, to keep idiots like these from procreating
ermahgerd!!! After such a dry spell I have an epic Tom/Sybil modern au story idea, ripe for the plucking!!
It’s called “Driving the Dowager” (like Driving Miss Daisy)
Dowager Countess Violet Crawley could charitably be called a curmudgeon. Her children were off living their lives. Her granddaughters were all independent young women taking over the world in their own, unique ways. It was just as well that Violet preferred the solitude of the Dowager house, only intruded upon by the aggravating, though well meaning, Isobel Crawley.
But after a bad fall the family insisted that someone must be in the house to help Violet with all manner of chore. That someone was a young, Irish handyman-turned-mechanic-turned-column writer-turned-aspiring novelist- Tom Branson. To everyone’s (not the least Violet’s) the cranky, traditionalist, aristocrat and the affable, socialist, working class lad got on famously. Then one day the youngest granddaughter, Sybil, come to visit during a break from nursing school… and Granny got an idea…
Want to write it? It’s yours!!!
I love it! Oh if only–alas, I need to do some MAJOR catch-up on my other works before tackling anything new (and I hope to do that once I’ve settled into my new place) but you are the S/T idea-whisperer! Keep those ideas coming! I hope they will inspire many!
Listen! The wind is rising, and the air is wild with leaves,
We have had our summer evenings, now for October eves!”

And thank you to everyone else who participated; as fall gives way to winter, be on the lookout for another fandom giveaway, this one with a holiday theme, and involving a certain Irish chauffeur ;o)
