I often wondered: first, what would have happened if Cora didn’t have her miscarriage and second, how Sybil started to hang out in the garage with Branson. Here is one of my takes on this with a mix of the two. This is my VERY belated gift for @cassiemortmain’s birthday and VERY, VERY belated gift for @yankeecountess. And as I’m slow writer, I’m posting it for the LSL week. I hope you don’t mind girls. Thank you to @skinnycat77 for the beta. Thank you for reading. And reviewing (maybe, maybe not…)
THE FIRST MURMURS OF LOVE
Downton Abbey, July 1915
“Oh no, no, no… “ Sybil groaned loudly after one of the wheels on the landau refused to turned anymore. She took a look inside to see if the sudden stop woke the baby but he was still soundly asleep so she stepped aside to try and see what was wrong with the wheel. She was gone for more than an hour now and if she wasn’t back soon, her family would for sure send a search party on the estate. After lunch, and after being once again brushed off by her father when she asked questions about the war, she couldn’t stand it anymore. Being in this house with everybody stopping their conversation as she was near, trying to “preserve” her from what was happening in the world because she was the youngest, was slowly driving her mad. So she convinced her mother to let her have a stroll in the park with her little brother, but only after promising to bring him back in time to his nanny for his feeding.
OK, I’m trying so hard to write a sequel to this…But my muse is playing with me. Some cheers would be great. I want so hard to write again about my babies…
Dale Hansen is a fucking treasure. He admitted he was a childhood victim of sexual abuse in the hopes that it would encourage others to come forward and seek help. He has been an ardent supporter of scholar-athletes and of gay players in the NFL and of trans athletes.
“I’m not always comfortable when a man tells me he is gay; I don’t understand his world. But I do understand that he is part of mine.”
Congratulations to Snopes on their confirmation that Trump and the GOP have cut the enrollment period for Affordable Care Act plans in half and reduced the advertising budget to inform people about said enrollment period by 90 percent.
Enrollment for 2018 #AffordableCareAct (#ACA / #Obamacare) insurance plans starts November 1st and ends December 15th.
They are actively discouraging people from enrolling. We will have to spread the word ourselves.
45 has the audacity to attack Puerto Ricans and the San Juan mayor while they are going through a HUMANITARIAN CRISIS. Just so some of ya’ll know, this is NOT how you be a leader when people are literally dying. He’s not doing jack shit about the situation because golfing is obviously a priority to him. I don’t want anyone to tell me he gives a fucking about the dying people of Puerto Rico. This really pisses me tf off.
despite 45’s disgusting outrage, I just wanna give Carmen Yulín Cruz, the San Juan Mayor, a huge fucking shoutout for being a fearless resilient ass woman during this crisis. she’s providing more help than the toddler-in-chief himself.
there’s a reason why trump is verbally attacking this woman. It’s because she’s a brave woman who’s not afraid of his childish twitter-jabs. that’s the shit trump envy’s, strong women who are doing more than him and aren’t afraid to talk back.
I saw this post and was like “I’d better check to make sure those tweets are real, because complaining that people in a disaster area ‘want everything done for them’ is REALLY bad, even by his standards,” and, well, they’re real. And yes, he’s saying this while staying at his golf course.
I still haven’t seen nearly as many good suggested charities to provide aid to the people of Puerto Rico (American citizens that are taxed without representation), but here’s a link to the one the Puerto Rican government endorsed:
I know I’ve posted about this charity before, and that’s partially because I am United Methodist, but seriously, UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is a great disaster response charity, and again, you DO NOT have to be either United Methodist or even Christian to donate.
100% of that donation goes directly to disaster relief. The organization has a 4-Star rating on charitynavigator.org which is the highest rating any charity can receive.
