“Downton Abbey” Sybil x Branson / “Poldark” Drake x Morwenna Crossover AU!
In the spring of 1914, months before the War begins, the village receives a new vicar: Mr. Osbourne Whitworth, along with his young wife. As is custom, the Whitworths are invited to dine at Downton Abbey, something which the greedy and social-climbing Ossie is all too happy about. But it is at that dinner that the quiet and morose-looking Mrs. Whitworth finds a much-needed friend with the Crawley’s youngest daughter. Sybil calls upon Morwenna and quickly suspects that all is not well, despite Morwenna’s attempts to hide her bruises (and Ossie’s attempts to shoo the frustrating suffragette away). Sybil vows to do everything she can to help her friend, and soon learns Morwenna’s sad story of lost love…
Meanwhile, Tom Branson strikes up a friendship with a young Cornish man looking for work in Ripon. With Tom’s help, Drake soon finds a place in the village, and a job with the local garage. The two quickly bond, and unknowingly find themselves sharing stories of unrequited love with women above their station. Eventually Drake reveals that he’s traveled so far from home in search of his lost love, trapped in an abusive marriage to an oppressive clergyman. It doesn’t take long for Tom to realize whom Drake is referring, and like Sybil, he too vows to help his friend.
And maybe, just maybe, this struggle to help and reunite Drake and Morwenna will give Lady Sybil and the Downton chauffeur the courage needed to pursue their own happily ever after…
I was cataloging my book haul from yesterday and realized I had picked up a signed copy! Such an awesome surprise!Any of my fellow romance readers familiar with Jennifer McQuiston? This is my first time reading her work.
OH! I have read this book and I loved it. So the heroine is a little spoiled at the beginning; she has hopes of marrying “up”, but on the day of the big ball, sprains her ankle (and only makes it worse when she tries to pretend nothing is wrong). The hero is a working-class doctor who happens to be at the ball seeing to a patient, when he notices the heroine limping. They spar at first, she finds him vexing, he thinks she’s shallow, but neither can deny the attraction they feel for the other, and they both soon realize they don’t have the other as easily pegged as they first thought, and the ending is very satisfying :o) It’s the first in a trilogy (the other two books feature the heroine’s sister and brother and their respective romances). I think you’ll like it!
Hello! The gif comes from an Italian Beauty and the Beast miniseries that was released in 2014:
It’s mainly a B&B retelling with a dash of “Phantom of the Opera” (just in terms of the mask, mainly) It’s the typical “broody rich guy who has a chip on his shoulder because of his disfigurement and a broken heart from a previous love–masks (literally) his emotions and tries to put on this air of ‘I don’t care what you think woman, I can do whatever I want’, but he quickly learns in his first efforts to seduce her, that DARN IT, he DOES care what she thinks and she’s not just someone you bed and forget about”, and soon he finds himself PINING…” :oP
From what I understand there is an English dub floating around, but I watched it in Italian with subtitles and I think that’s better
If you do find it, make sure you give yourself at least 3 hours to swoon as well as groan when he’s being an idiot (but like most heroes, thanks largely in part to their badass heroines, he finds his way) ;o)
Oh, and to wet your whistle, here’s a music vid someone did on Youtube ;oP
I mean: I know they’re two completely different shows set in two completely different time periods…but so help me, I want a Sybil/Tom and Drake/Morwenna crossover SO BAD!!!!
