I am now back after my week away for work, and am slowly making my way through all things technology, from email to other social media thing-a-ma-bobs. BUT THANK YOU to everyone who sent me a message and expressed their birthday wishes :o) *very* much appreciated
Sybil and Tom had met in university and they quickly hit it off. Before long they declared to their friends that they were boyfriend and girlfriend. Most of Tom’s friends were those he had known since childhood from his village, whom he had gone to school with, whom he grew up with. They all knew each other incredibly well and they all had strong opinions that they weren’t afraid to voice. Tom’s friends all disapproved of his choice in girlfriend. Sybil was everything that Tom was against. She was from the oppressive class that Tom hated so much. Sybil’s friends, much like Tom’s, didn’t like their relationship. Tom wasn’t good enough for Sybil. A lower class man who had few prospects, Sybil’s friends believed Tom wasn’t good enough for Sybil when she was capable of landing a man so much more worth her time. But despite their friends’ loudly voiced opinions, Sybil and Tom refused to let their relationship dwindle. They kept their relationship quiet from their families for the fear that they would reject their love for each other like their friends did. Over time, their friends drifted from them, not wanting to spend time with them when they were together. Sometimes it felt as though Sybil and Tom had nobody in the world but each other, so they decided to make their bond official. Marriage felt like the next logical step. They were more in love than either of them had ever felt before and they knew that they were meant for each other. In order to preserve their feelings and their love for one another, they married in secret. A small ceremony between just the two of them, the day was quiet and intimate and it felt like there was no one else in the world but the two of them. Together. In love. Invincible.
Hullo! I’ve been MIA lately as I have been bogged down with work-related stresses, a majority of which have been leading up to this big trip that I’m taking as we speak; I will be “out of town” (and pretty much “away” from the internet as a whole) from Saturday June 9 to Saturday June 16.
I wanted to share this, because I have received some kind messages asking if all is OK (it will be, after this trip is over) and in case anyone does send me a message and I don’t reply back–I promise I will when I return.
Finally, my birthday is June 13 and I usually like to *try* and post something on that day, fanfic-wise. Sadly, my situation will not allow me to do that this year, but I do have some things queued up–including more “Hogwarts AU” picsets (hooray!)
Anyway, I am hoping that once I return after the 16th, things will “calm down” properly, and I can properly start posting some darn updates to things :oP But I hope all of you are having an enjoyable summer (or if you’re in the southern hemisphere, an enjoyable winter) and I look forward to coming back and “tumblring” with you all soon!
Join hands with Tom and Sybil as they secretly recite their marriage vows with this fan favorite trope: SECRET MARRIAGE AU!
We all have a favorite “Secret Marriage” story, or at the very least, a secret marriage idea we’d love to see come alive. No matter how many times this plot is told, we gobble it up like a delicious slice of wedding cake!
So whether it’s Tom and Sybil secretly running off to Gretna Green and having success with their elopement, or Tom and Sybil marrying in another setting (in Ireland? At Downton?) or even a modern setting where these two crazy kids sneak off and marry without the knowledge of their respective families…whatever the story, whatever the setting, whatever the circumstances, just keep it a secret! At least until after the wedding night ;o)
Happy June and ROCK THE SECRET MARRIAGE AU!
