March 2018 Rock the childhood sweethearts AU!

Sybil Crawley and Tom Branson had known each other since they were children. They attended the same primary school and fell head-over-heels in love… at least, as in love as a pair of six year olds can be. Their break times in the playground were spent together every day and they would choose to be each other’s partner whenever they had to work in pairs in lessons. But when Tom’s parents chose to send him to the local state secondary school, and Sybil’s parents sent her to a private girls-only boarding school in the country, their relationship was torn apart. Their meetings were restricted to friendly smiles in the street when Sybil came back from school for the holidays. Over the years, they remained friendly, but lost most of their contact. That is, until they found themselves at the same university, in the same block of halls. During freshers’ week, when everyone else was going out on the town every night, Sybil and Tom spent the evenings in each other’s rooms catching up on the last decade of their lives. They often talked into the small hours of the morning and took late evening strolls to the nearby beach. Their childhood love was rekindled and they became inseparable once again. Before they graduated at the end of their final year at university they made a pact that they would never drift apart again. If they did, there was no guarantee they would cross paths again, which they couldn’t bare the thought of.

Love never grows old, and that’s certainly true with this month’s Rock the AU theme of Childhood Sweethearts!

What if Tom and Sybil had known each other since they were children? What if he began his service at Downton as a stable boy or apprentice to the chauffeur?  Or perhaps Sybil and the Crawleys had a house in Ireland and she met Tom on holiday?  Whatever the scenario, whatever the time setting, let your imagination wander with the possibilities of Tom and Sybil as childhood sweethearts–from the first hand-hold, to the first love letter, to the first kiss and beyond…rock the childhood sweetheart AU this March!

I’ve been so out of it lately; work has been crazy these last few weeks, I’ve hardly had time to write or even hang out on tumblr as much as I would like to. Today (Friday) is my day off, and I’m going to try to take advantage of that and do *something*–I want to get back “on the saddle” both in terms of writing/reading fanfic, and just be more active than I have been with all of you lovely people :oP

Also, I know I’m late with putting out March’s Rock the AU theme–it will be posted before the weekend is over, that’s at least one goal I want to see come to pass!
