an ode to unfinished fanfics

Every fandom has them.

Wonderful, beautiful, exciting, well-written fanfics that sadly…remain unfinished.

I’m sure we can all think of at least one (in truth, we could probably name a dozen). A story that hasn’t been updated in years, and probably, sadly, never will be.

HOWEVER, despite those feelings of disappointment and frustration, these are still stories to cherish, to love, to recommend (with perhaps a slight proviso), and their authors, be they people who still remain somewhat active in some form of social media, or people who have left that screen name or website behind, are still authors to appreciate.

So in the spirit of Fanfic Author Appreciation, raise a glass/candle/wand/etc. to those authors and their stories. They may be unfinished on the screen, but I’m sure in our hearts and in conversations with other fans who love them, they have gone on to have the ending we believe they deserve.

Basically I’m going through my “favorite” list on FF of favorite authors and remembering all these amazing stories that they have written that I love and…see?
