JANUARY book photo challenge

January 16–”Out of Print”

This trilogy of romances by Mary Balogh are out of print, published under the good ol’ Signet Regency label.  I remember hunting for these books on Amazon and paying much more than their original price tag in order to collect them!

AUGUST book photo challenge

August 9–”Favorite Author”

There
are *many* romance authors to whom I love and would label a “favorite”,
but if I had to choose one, I think it would have to be Mary Balogh;
it was her books that really launched me into the romance genre, and
introduced me to many of the “typical” tropes we see in Regency-era
historical romances. And of course, she authored the Bedwyns, so that’s
always a plus ;o)

JULY book photo challenge

July 17–”Collector’s Edition”

My mother’s collection of Regency romances by Joan Wolf

While these are not a “collector’s edition” of the books, these are in a manner of speaking “collector items” in the sense that all of these books are now out of print, and quite difficult to find unless you know your way around a good book collector.  But in addition to writing a good deal of medieval romance, Joan Wolf also dabbled in the Regency era, alongside Carla Kelly, Mary Balogh, Jo Beverley, and Elizabeth Mansfield. These were some of the first romances I read, and if you ever find a copy, HOLD ONTO TO IT–not only because they’re difficult to find, but also because they’re pretty good books!

JUNE book photo challenge

June 29–”This Month’s Fav”

A Midsummer Bride by Amanda Forester

I’m still in the process of reading this one, but so far, I’m loving it! But how can you not? Adorable, outspoken American heiress who loves chemistry and would much rather be spending her time conducting experiments than interacting with dishonest suitors who only want her money, and a practical Scottish earl who is often shy around ladies, but who quickly forms a friendship with her, and finds her forthrightness both admirable and charming…

Also, there are evil spies, snobby mean girls, meddling relatives, an even more meddling matchmaker, and PIRATES!
