A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (1973)
“You do remember that I’m Irish and you’re English–”
“Half English,” Sybil reminded him with a wink. “Besides, I thought you liked my ‘American spirit’ that I had inherited from my mother?”
Tom chuckled and gave her a wink in return as he chopped the union for the sage and union stuffing that would accompany the turkey. “I do think it’s funny though,” he added. “That your grandmother allowed your mother to bring something as ‘vulgar’ as an American holiday to Downton.”
Sybil laughed. “Actually, it wasn’t Mama, but me…” she sighed.
Tom paused in his chopping. “Really?”
Sybil nodded and gave him a sheepish smile. “When I was six we went to New York to visit my American grandmother–”
“I miss Martha,” Tom sighed. “We need to go visit her sometime in the near future.”
“After the baby,” Sybil reminded, though she did grin at Tom’s longing to see her grandmother; she knew both he and Martha Levinson would become thick as thieves upon meeting. “Anyway, we were visiting Grandmama, and she took me into the city to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, and then we had a scrumptious feast back at the house–”
“Cooked by someone else,” Tom added.
“Trust me, that’s a good thing,” Sybil assured him.
Tom gave a mock gasp. “I’m going to tell her you said that.”
“ANYWAY!” Sybil groaned, trying to get back to the story. “I loved the Thanksgiving holiday so much that I begged Mama and Papa to please, please, please let us celebrate it at Downton, and…well, there are some perks to being the youngest,” Sybil giggled, not feeling guilty in the slightest. “Parents are a little more likely to give in to one’s requests.”
“Remember that when our youngest demands she wants a tattoo.”
Sybil rolled her eyes and Tom chuckled. “So it’s your fault then, is what you’re saying?”
“Guilty as charged,” Sybil sighed, before looking down at the table once again and checking the place settings.
“So then why are we hosting this meal?”
Sybil laughed. “Well, because this is our first Thanksgiving as a married couple,” she told him, before coming over and weaving her arms around his neck. “And by hosting it, that means ‘Branson house rules’; no forced-dressing up, no excess or unnecessary extravagance, and certainly no talk about ‘Tory politics’–”
Tom cut her off by kissing her deeply, to which Sybil happily returned.
“Have I told you how much I love you, Mrs. Branson?”
She smiled and brushed her lips against his once more. “One never tires of hearing it,” she whispered.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING S/T FANS!

“We should just be thankful for being together, I think that’s what they mean by Thanksgiving Charlie Brown.” – Marci, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (1973)
President Obama, aka the Dad Joke POTUS, just released the most glorious seven minutes of bad Thanksgiving puns you’ve ever heard
President Obama explained that after last year, his daughters decided they couldn’t put up with his dad jokes, so he was joined at the pardon by his adorable two nephews! President Obama is clearly letting his full nerd hang out now. (Yes he cran!) The full video of jokes is truly worth the click.

Just sitting here in the warm comforts of my home, the Chicago parade on TV (which in my opinion is better than the New York one) ;oP, going through the newspaper’s gazillion ads, while cinnamon rolls bake in the oven

Because today was my last work day for the week, I was too busy trying to wrap things up with it, and then traveling home for Thanksgiving to have the opportunity to write. But I have a feeling there will be a chance tomorrow *fingers crossed* most likely after dinner. Anyhoo, to my fellow Americans, happy Thanksgiving (and to my non-American friends, happy Thursday!) :oP

Waiting to hear back from a few people about their SS prompts, but once I do, I will get these out to folks!
Nothing like a good Sybil/Tom headcanon :oP
When it comes to procrastination, I can see it going back and forth. Sometimes I see Sybil being lazy and putting things off, and sometimes I see Tom doing this (for example, in the story “Home” by wslowry, Tom is not an early riser). I think either scenario makes sense, meaning I think Sybil can be lazy, but also be very forthcoming with tackling projects, and the same with Tom. I suppose at the end of the day I would say they both can procrastinate, but it’s very rare where they procrastinate at the same time.
As for their sexual identity, I have heard both sides, meaning I have heard headcanons for both Sybil *and* Tom being bisexual. If I had to choose one, I would agree with you and choose Sybil, but I admit that that is mainly because we saw more of her interaction on screen with Gwen, than we did with Tom and some of the other guys around him…well, alright, let’s be honest, he was ready to jump Henry’s bones ;oP The point is, some characters you have to stretch the character to fit specific identity headcanons, which I do not think you have to do with either Tom or Sybil.
Whatever Tom’s job is, I always imagine him continuing to work and tinker with cars–it’s not only something he’s good at, but also something he loves doing. I have a headcanon that Tom becomes the “local repairman” to his and Sybil’s neighbors, offering to look at their cars if there’s an issue and kindly refusing payment (so instead they cook/bake various dishes for him and Sybil). I also imagine he’s really into gadgets full stop. And of course, he’s an avid reader. Oh, and he works out a lot too ;o)
Sybil’s hobbies are a bit broader, partially because as an aristocratic woman, her education would have been spent on things ladies were “supposed to do” such as music, art, and dancing. I think Mary and Edith were considered better musicians and for some reason, I imagine Sybil has stage fright–she’s not necessarily a bad singer, but she doesn’t care to do it in front of others (hence why she didn’t join Mary and Edith during their little concert). I think of all the artistic things, it’s dancing Sybil loves the most. But I do love the idea of her keeping a sketchbook; @mimijag wrote a lovely story about Sybil painting. And just like Tom, she too loves to read.
But let’s be real; we all know their favorite activity to do together ;o)

I had this brilliant idea that I would go to a coffee shop and just write and write and write tonight. Turned out, there were several loud patrons present, and one woman watching (and full volume) her netflix shows at the table next to mine. Sooooo, that didn’t happen.

But there’s always tomorrow!
